Are your messages too loud or too soft? To easily adjust your microphone’s recording volume when you’re in YackPack, follow these steps.
- Right click or Open Apple click anywhere on the white portion of the YackCircle.
- Select the “Settings” option.
- You’ll see several icons across the bottom of the window, a monitor with an eye, a folder, a microphone, and a web camera. Click on the microphone option.
- You’ll be presented with the microphone settings for your computer. You can click on and drag the slider up or down to increase or decrease your recording volume. Usually, somewhere in the middle is best for most computers.
- Click the “Close” button when you’re finished. You can always repeat these steps to readjust your recording volume at any time.

Troubleshooting an Echo
An echo can happen for several reasons.
The most common reason is that you have more than one browser window open with YackPack. Make sure you only have one browser window open with YackPack at a time. Otherwise you will hear an echo.
In our experience it may depend what kind of computer you are on too. We've noticed more echo/distortion with Macintosh computers, when using the built in microphone and internal speakers. The best way to reduce the echo/distortion is to use a headset. That way the microphone will not be picking up the speaker sounds. For a Mac, you will need a USB headset, but with PCs there are many non-USB headsets that work very well.
Additionally, you may want to make sure that your recording level is not set too high. When it's set too high, distortion can occur. To check this, you can do the following:
1. Login to YackPack
2. Right-click or Open Apple-click (depending on computer type) anywhere inside the circle.
3. Select the "settings" option.
4. Click on the microphone icon (3rd icon across the bottom from the left).
5. There you can adjust a slider up and down to alter your recording input, as well as reduce the echo (select the box). Usually somewhere in the middle is a good range for most people, but experiment and see what works best for you.
